Shonette Stanislaus M.F.A

Biography

Shonette was born and raised in the Caribbean. She still enjoys visiting the Caribbean (Guyana and St. Lucia) whenever she can, basking in the warm sunshine, drinking water coconuts straight from the trees, enjoying the tropical breeze, and reuniting with family and friends. Shonette has also lived in three different states (New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio), since immigrating to the United States.

Shonette is passionate about the English language and the creative energy of words. Hence, she earned a Bachelor of Arts (concentration in English studies) from Thomas Edison State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (specialization: poetry) from National University.

Since earning her master’s, Shonette has taught as an affiliate English professor and ESL instructional specialist at Tiffin University; and an adjunct English instructor at Ashford University, Terra State Community College, and Marion Technical College. She has treasured her experiences teaching at Marion Technical College and is delighted to continue her teaching career as a full-time English faculty.
