Finish What You Started
Life gets busy. Careers evolve. Families grow.
At Marion Tech, we understand that stepping away from college is sometimes necessary. But when you’re ready to come back, we’re ready to help you finish. And finishing matters.
You should know that you’re not alone. In fact, Marion Tech receives over 350 returning student applications every single year.
In Ohio, nearly 1.3 million adults have some college credit but no credential (Ohio Department of Higher Education). Completing your degree can significantly increase your earning power and job stability.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2024):
- Associate degree holders earn a median of $1,099 per week
- Adults with some college but no degree earn $1,020 per week
- Associate degree holders also experience lower unemployment (2.8%) compared to those with some college but no credential (3.8%)
That’s a measurable return on finishing what you started.
Designed for Working Adults
Most returning students are balancing jobs, families, and responsibilities. That’s why MTC offers:
- Flexible scheduling options
- Online and hybrid courses
- Evening and part-time pathways
- Personalized academic advising
- Support services built for adult learners
You don’t have to put your life on hold to complete your education.
Where to Start
You’ve already invested time and effort. Completing your credential turns that investment into opportunity. Here’s what you need to do.
Step 1: Submit a Returning Student Reactivation Form
If you have been away from MTC for more than a year, your first step is to submit a returning student reactivation form to the Office of the Registrar.
Step 2: Meet with Admissions
Next, schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor to discuss your program and major, registration, financial aid, any required placement testing, and any other changes since you were last enrolled. We offer both in-person and phone admission appointments to make it easier to fit into your schedule. We’ll help you create a clear, manageable path forward.

Financial Aid: Support Is Available
Many returning students qualify for aid—even if they didn’t before.
The first step is completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA determines eligibility for:
- Federal grants and loans
- The Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)
- Ohio’s Second Chance Grant, which provides up to $3,000 for eligible students returning to complete a credential (Ohio Dept. of Higher Education)
If finances were a barrier before, let’s revisit the conversation. Our team will walk you through deadlines, documentation, and next steps so you can make an informed decision.
