MTC Foundation Raises Over $42,500 at Annual Golf Outing to Support Student Scholarships

4th Annual Golf Outing
May 28, 2025

The Marion Technical College Foundation celebrated a major success at its fourth annual Golf Outing presented by Fahey Bank on Thursday, May 22. It netted an impressive $42,658 for new student scholarships.

“The Marion Tech Foundation is so very appreciative of all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors who supported this year’s golf fundraiser. We are so grateful to the 36 teams and nine major event sponsors, with a special shout out to presenting sponsor Fahey Bank,” said Mike Stuckey, director of the Marion Tech Foundation. “In addition to the major sponsors, we had another 122 local businesses and individuals who supported the event with tee sponsorships.  We will use these proceeds as matching funds to yield a total of $80,000 in new scholarships for our worthy students in need.”

Driving Scholarships Forward by $250,000

So far, the golf outings have raised $138,000 in new scholarship funds. Together with the matching gifts, they have resulted in $233,000 in new scholarships for local students. Once donors take advantage of this year’s $43,000 matching grants program, the golf outings will yield a total of $276,000 in four short years.

“We had an amazing time at the 2025 MTC Foundation Golf Outing. We’re so proud to have been a Gold Sponsor of an event that gives right back to the Marion community we love. To top it off, Fahey Team 2 took home the win!” said Jon Ferguson, Fahey Bank vice present and former Foundation board member. “Sponsoring events like this isn’t just about the game - it’s about supporting education, opportunity, and growth for the place we call home. We’re honored to be part of something that makes such a meaningful impact.“

Fahey Bank’s winning team was comprised of Scott Knowles, Chase Smith, Dawson Hall and Nolan Ludwig.

Teeing Up Students for Success

“This event is not only a great way to engage the community, but it directly impacts our students’ ability to succeed through access to critical financial support,” Stuckey said. “While Marion Tech’s tuition is among the lowest in the state, scholarships provide an important way to remove financial barriers for students. Beyond tuition, scholarships can help pay for textbooks, childcare transportation, housing, professional attire and tools. Thank you for helping our students get to their next goals!”

The MTC Foundation currently manages 58 named funds. The Foundation has already announced plans to host the fifth annual Golf Outing on May 21, 2026.
