Ohio Work Ready Grant

What is Ohio Work Ready (OWR)?

The Ohio Work Ready Grant provides funding to Ohio residents who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled in qualified programs at Ohio community colleges, technical centers, or state university branch campuses. The grant aims to prepare students for in-demand jobs by supporting their education and training.

Who is Eligible?

  • Must be a Ohio resident
  • Applicants with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $3750 or less as determined by the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  If your FAFSA form is complete and fully processed, your estimated federal student aid and SAI will display under the “Eligibility Overview” tab of your online FAFSA Submission Summary. 
  • Scholars enrolled in full-time study (more than 12 hours) or part-time study (less than 12 hours).
  • Former College Credit Plus (CCP) students are welcome to apply.
  • Students must major in one of MTC’s eligible major Ohio Work Ready programs of study:
    • Business Management
    • Business Management – Accounting Option
    • Business Management – Cosmetology Option (degree completion)
    • Business Management – Supply Chain/Logistics Management option
    • Computer Fundamental (Micro-certificate)
    • Cyber Security and Networking
    • Industrial Robotics (Micro-certificate)
    • Intel Semiconductor Manufacturing (Micro-certificate)
    • Networking (Micro-certificate)
    • PLC Operations (Micro-certificate)
    • Real Estate Sales (Micro-certificate)
    • Software Development
    • Web Development Certificate

OWR Grant Awards

  • Awards cover tuition, fees and other educational related expenses related to the Cost of Attendance (COA) for a maximum of six semesters.
  • Students enrolled in full-time study can receive up to $3000/year.
  • Students enrolled in part-time study or for a micro-certificate can receive up to $2000/year. 
  • Students enrolled in a micro-certificate can receive up to $2000/year for the same micro-certificate.  If you complete a micro-certificate and begin another in the same year, you can receive an additional $1000 for up to a total of $3000.

To Maintain Eligibility

  • Student must remain in good academic standing.
  • Student must complete the FAFSA each year.
  • Student must remain enrolled in one of the designated programs.

You must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Results must be received by MTC prior to July 1st.
