Apex Clean Energy and Marion Technical College are pleased to announce a new partnership to help educate and train the next generation of clean energy workers with the creation of the Tymochtee Solar Scholarship Fund.

Through this partnership, the Marion Technical College Foundation will administer a new scholarship program targeted at students in the college’s Electrical Engineering Technology – Alternative Energy degree program, a two-year, full-time program that trains students in engineering, mechanical, and related fields for students seeking careers in the renewable energy industry. The program provides students with the key electrical skills needed to install, operate and maintain various alternative energy systems and also exposes them to the business of energy.

Through the Tymochtee Solar project, Apex will provide $75,000 to create the scholarship fund. Funds will be available beginning 30 days after the project’s commercial operations date, currently anticipated for mid-to-late 2025.Gena Shelton

Encouraging students to pursue these careers is key to meeting our mission of accelerating the shift to clean energy.”

“We are excited about the investment in our students to build the workforce of tomorrow,” said Dr. Ryan McCall, president of Marion Technical College. “Engineering technology is in demand. We appreciate scholarships to lower barriers for students to get ahead.”

Dr. McCallAdditional details about the application process will be released to current and prospective students once available.
