The Aspire Program at Marion Technical College (MTC) is a tuition-free service for people who need to work on basic math, reading, or writing skills that help them be more successful in their college courses, in their employment situation, in their preparations for taking a high school equivalency (HSE) exam, or in learning English as a second language. Both college students and non-college students may participate in Aspire classes.

  • Several locations, days, and times from which to choose to meet busy schedules
  • Learners work at their own pace and have individualized learning plans
  • College students are able to stretch their financial aid dollars because classes are free
  • Instructors are knowledgeable about the demands of the GED® high school equivalency (HSE) test

Aspire students focus on one or more of the following:

  • Preparing for MTC’s college placement test (Accuplacer)
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • HSE preparation (also known as GED® preparation)
  • Transition skills for employment and post-secondary education
  • Life skills, employability skills, and computer literacy
