Sometimes the motivation to go to college doesn’t always start with a student’s dream. No matter the “inspiration” – it pays off in the end. This is the story of Pat Case, Owner, Great Impressions of Marion.
Pat Case didn’t enroll at Marion Technical College because she wanted to be part of a monumental experience as a member of the first graduating class EVER at MTC, she signed up because her mom said, “you are going to go somewhere and do something.” So, to Pat MTC seemed as good a place as any. She said it was interesting and fun being involved in something that was so new to Marion, Ohio, and she made her mother proud by getting her associate degree in 1973.
Actually, Pat has made her mother proud ever since by climbing ladders, following dreams and ending up as a proud business owner – just like her father. Pat had grown up with an entrepreneurial father who owned a truck door company. After she received her degree, she ended up in the family business. And finally, her dad talked her into starting a business of her own in 1990. Again, with the “nudge” of a parent, Pat found herself in the business of fabrics, furniture, and a fascinating knack for putting it all together for businesses and home owners.
Great Impressions is situated on East Church Street at the edge of downtown Marion and even the home that Pat has restored and converted into her storefront, bestows beauty and an obvious elegance. She has all of the pieces to the puzzle and she can put everything together for her clients. She started here at Marion Technical College in 1971 – and look at her now!
Marion Technical College is proud to be called “home” for all of the Pat Case’s out there, and we like to spotlight these successes to show those thinking of college – to stop thinking and start going!
